Adulrasheed Bawa, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) slumped during a programme at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday.
Channels TV reports that the EFCC Boss was speaking on the significance of digital identification in commemoration of the National Identity Day when he unexpectedly turned emotional, associating his demeanour to the demise of a member of staff of the commission.
However, no details of the person’s identity was uttered by him.
Shortly after, he mentioned he couldn’t proceed with his speech and then walked off the stage, sat in his chair and slumped.
Thereafter, Bawa was hurried out of the hall, escorted by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Mr Isa Pantami.
Later, Mr Pantami returned to the hall and said he was now in a stable condition.
The event proceeded thereafter.
Nexus News further gathered that the Commission in a statement by its Head, Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, has ascertained the public that Mr Bawa is hale and hearty.
“He has since received medical attention and is due back at his desk,” the statement partly read.
