Amid anxiety and concerns as the Taliban takes over Afghanistan, several videos have been going viral on social media on the happenings in the fear-stricken country.
On one hand, the videos showed thousands of Afghans fleeing the country in desperation.
On the other, some of these videos showed the Taliban fighters in a festive mood, celebrating after seizing Kabul, Afghanistan capital city.
Popular among them is the video of the Taliban with their ammunition dancing to Drake’s ‘In my feelings’
However, a fack check by Nexus News has proved the video to be fake.
Nexus News confirmed that the original video dates back to March 2021.
According to a report by AFP, a similar video was circulated in Netherlands, the Philippines, United States, and Nigeria.
The earliest version of the video was posted on YouTube on March 25, 2021 in a video called “DJ Bannu Dance” where men were seen dancing to an an instrumental song, not Drake’s song.
Bannu is a district in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
In a similar fack check conducted by AFP and Reuters, the said clip was recorded at a wedding in Pakistan in March 2021.
A reverse image search of a key frame gotten from the footage verified that the same video was shared online several months prior to Taliban’s take over of Afghanistan.
