The federal government of Nigeria is set to lift the ban on operations imposed few months ago on the micro blogging platform, Twitter.
This was disclosed by Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture on Wednesday after the week’s virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the presidential villa.
Speaking about negotiations between the government Twitter, Mohammed said conditions were laid out to the platform and most of them were accepted.
The minister further put in that part of the negotiations included setting up a Twitter office with staff of management cadre in Nigeria as the country’s representative.
Mohammed also noted the anxiety expressed by Nigerians over the ban and assured that a conclusion would be reached very soon.
He also maintained that the earliest Twitter can establish its’ office in Nigeria is 2022.
