KATSINA: Cholera kills 60 – Nexus News


Yesterday, The Katsina State government  confirmed that 60 people have been killed by the cholera outbreak in the state.

Yakubu Danja, Health Commissioner, told officials of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) at a meeting in Katsina that more than 1,400 people have been affected by the disease so far.

But he noted that the challenge was being addressed.

He said that drugs were being purchased for distribution to hospitals for treatment of cases while health education on prevention and management of the disease has started in addition to  active case search and surveillance across the state.

He urged the general public to adhere to proper hygiene.

“Diarrhea and vomiting is a preventable disease. Adhering to basic protocols on personal hygiene and use of clean water is the surest preventive measure,” Yakubu said.

In another development, President Buhari celebrates Nwabueze Ngige OON, as he turns 69 today, August 8, 2021.
